Some initiatives are listed below for prayer and information. Please email me should you sense your project would benefit from being on this page.

  • Healing On The Streets is coming to Aldridge, but with an open invitation for all of the Churches across Walsall and the Black Country to become involved too!

Healing On The Streets Aldridge is a ministry of the

Churches of Aldridge and The THOMAS Project.

The HOTS Aldridge Training and Launch Weekend takes place on the weekend of Friday the 18th to Sunday the 20th of January 2019, and is open to everyone who is interested in attending.

The cost per participant for the weekend training (apart from bringing your own packed lunch on the Saturday and your travel costs) is just £6 each for your official HOTS Training Manual.

The Itinerary is as follows  :-

Friday 18th January  –  6.30 pm to 9.30 pm  –  evening HOTS Training Session 1 at Aldridge Methodist Church.

Saturday 19th January  –  9.30 am to 12.30 pm  –  morning HOTS Training Session 2 at Aldridge Methodist Church  (please bring your own lunch).

Saturday 19th January  –  1.30 pm to 3.30 pm  –  afternoon practical HOTS Launch Session 3 in the Village, outside Costa Coffee (returning to Aldridge Methodist Church afterwards).

Sunday 20th January  –  10.30 am to 12.30 pm  –  Mark Marx will also be speaking and ministering at the morning service at St. Thomas’ Church, Aldridge ~ all are welcome.

For more information, or to book places, please email  or look out for us on Facebook

For more information about Healing On The Streets, please do check out their website

  • The only cost to participants of the weekend, other than bringing their own lunch on the Saturday,  will be £6 each, which is for their official HOTS Training Manual.

So far we have raised, or received pledges for,  £1,750 towards the cost of the weekend.  Lichfield Diocese will be assessing and making a decision on our application for ‘Resourcing Parish Mission’ funding later on in November.

The leaders taking responsibility for the weekend are : Rev Bev Boden, Rev Mark Castleton, Rev Sue Quibell and Nicky Thomas, with admin support from Sheree Foster (the Administrator at The THOMAS Project).

    Participants :

We will invite participants of the weekend to express an interest and book a place before the Closing Date of the 31st of December 2018.

They will be required to pay for their Training Manual at the time of booking.

There is an open invitation to all of the Churches in the Walsall area to attend. The existing HOTS Wolverhampton team will also be attending.

We anticipate that some of the attendees of the weekend will want to become HOTS Aldridge Team Members; in which case they will have to apply and meet certain Team Member requirements, as listed below :

    1. The Team Member will have received the full training and agrees to abide by the model taught.
    2. They will be an active member of a Small Group within their own Church.  Reason: the pastoral care within our Churches is usually arranged and better provided via Small Groups.
    3. The Team Member will also have submitted a short application form, which must be signed by their Church Leader.  Reason: there has to be accountability as this is a very visible ministry and we need to protect both the Churches involved and the public.
    4. They will have a regular connection with the life of their church.
    5. And the Team Member will have committed regularly to pray for the sick on the streets.

We will not allow strangers or outsiders to minister with us out on the streets.

We also anticipate that other attendees will be leaders and members of other Churches across Walsall who, we do pray, will catch the HOTS vision and want to set up HOTS in their own area; for example HOTS Bloxwich, HOTS Walsall, etc.  If this is the case, because they will have attended the official HOTS training with us already, it will be very straightforward for them to register as partner Churches with the team at Causeway Coast Vineyard.

It is recommended that anyone who is interested in attending the training, or the HOTS model itself, should read Mark’s book  ‘Stepping into the Impossible’.

Black Country people battling debt are to benefit from the appointment of a new worker who will coordinate efforts to help them become more financially resilient.

The Revd Cassius Francis has joined Transforming Communities Together – a joint venture between the Church Urban Fund and Diocese of Lichfield – as its Just Finance Black County Development Worker, working with churches and local community groups across the four boroughs.

In 2015 the support of the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Revd Justin Welby, helped secure a cap on the cost of payday loans and helped raise awareness of community based responsible financial providers like credit unions.

Further work has led to the creation of a new national charity, the Just Finance Foundation, to increase the supply of fair and affordable credit, build financial capability and develop fair financial systems in local communities. The Black County is now the fourth area in the country to benefit from a dedicated development worker.

Cassius will be working with partners across the region, including the Dioceses of Lichfield and Worcester, Sandwell Churches Link, whg Housing Association in Walsall and Wolverhampton City Credit Union, supported by local and national charities.

The Rev Dr David Primrose, Chair of Transforming Communities Together, said: “We are delighted to welcome Cassius to our team. We know that churches and groups across the Black Country are doing some great work to support people in their community to become more financially resilient, but changes such as Universal Credit and the already high debt levels locally mean that extra capacity is needed.”

Cassius will be able to offer churches and other groups a range of options to help them support people, including UCSavvy, Cash Smart Credit Savvy, the Debt Course and Money Talks.

Alongside this new role Cassius will be continuing to develop a church planting programme for the Wesleyan Holiness Church British Isles District. He was the Senior Pastor of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Wolverhampton until the end of 2017. Cassius is particularly passionate about social justice, reducing poverty, and young people. He and his wife, Vanessa, have also established and run a charitable project in Haiti. Last summer Cassius also organised the Black Country Homelessness Conference on behalf of Transforming Communities Together in partnership with Housing Justice.  (m/f)

Cassius completed his foundational training for ministry at the Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham, in 2013. He has run his own business, and previously worked as a youth and community worker in the diverse and vibrant parish of St Mark’s CE in Tollington Park, north London.  He has been a trustee for Church Urban Fund’s Thrive Together Birmingham focussed on engaging churches in reducing poverty across the city, and is still a member of the Wesleyan European Council.

Cassius said: “I didn’t think I was poor growing up, but I do remember Mom and Dad telling me that we were having a party by candlelight when the electricity had run out! As an adult I have seen the crippling effects of debt on families and I have personally experienced the feelings of financial exclusion particularly during periods of unemployment. I am glad to see that the Archbishop has made this programme a priority and I am excited to be part of something that can engage churches in making a real and lasting difference to people’s lives.”

Big Youth

The blurb!

Big Youth is an opportunity for our local young people to come together, invite their friends make new friends while having a blast and hearing the gospel!

The last friday of every month Big Youth hosts events varying from escape rooms to weekends away and team challenges!

Our heart is to see our young people come together under christ and see them grow into the body knowing each other as they get older and strengthing the Unity we all share in Christ!

The Walsall Turning…It’s Harvest Time! (Walsall: Our town; His harvest field)

As we move into this season of harvest I’m reminded of the times over the years that we have called out to The Lord for a Harvest of souls in Walsall!

Working together as The Body of Christ in Walsall, lets continue to encourage one another and remind ourselves that The Lord is on the move in our town and in the hearts of people. Through The Walsall Turning we have:

  • prayed for over 3000 people on the streets of Walsall
  • seen over 620 people pray to receive Jesus for themselves
  • worked together as churches in Walsall to reach out in love
  • experienced our town being blessed and the spiritual atmosphere changed

Testimony: One story of encouragement from this week comes from Steve Kirk, who had been asked to pray for a man who was sick. During the conversation Steve discovered that this man had been met on the streets of Walsall, led through a prayer of committment and been ‘born again’. He was clear about what he had done and how that one conversation on the street had impacted his life.

We don’t always know what happens to the seed we sow, but as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3 v6 ” I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow”

So, as The Walsall Turning continues, lets hear the call of Jesus, who said to his disciples in Matthew 9 v37-38 ” The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field“…His calling is to pray for workers to go into the harvest!

Blessings Tim Summersby (Leader – Walsall Community Church – Goldmine Centre).
